Philosphy

The Belleville School District Students Services/Guidance Department is a comprehensive and integral part of the system's total education program. We recognize the need to promote the understanding and acceptance of the cultural diversity that is so much a part of our school, community, country, and world. Our mission is predicated upon the belief that each student is a unique individual with the capacity to learn, change and grow holistically, (academically, economically and behaviorally). Showing students how to use life skills is key to the journey toward independence. We realize students have specific rights and needs deserving of our advocacy, guidance, counseling and intervention. In a welcoming environment, students can feel safe, be comfortable taking risks, and explore who they are, their values, and how they will contribute in this world.
