Supervisor of Early Childhood
Mrs. Yanelis Cabaleiro is committed to leading the Belleville Beginners PreK Program in providing a high-quality PreK education within the Belleville Public School District as the Supervisor of Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Cabaleiro drives the implementation of an evidence-based curriculum model, The Creative Curriculum, assuring that the program meets the Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.
She has led the participation of all Belleville Beginners locations in Grow NJ Kids, New Jersey's Quality Rating Improvement System to raise the quality of child care and early learning across the state. She has assisted in outreach, recruitment, and enrollment throughout the development of the Belleville Beginners PreK Program as part of the Belleville Preschool Expansion, helping in growing the program from its beginning phases of 6 PreK classrooms to a total of 40 PreK classrooms for the 2022-2023 school year. Furthermore, Yanelis has developed relationships within the community while contracting with private providers including Head Start and Sandy Lane Nursery School and has participated in various family and community engagement endeavors including helping to grow the Early Childhood Advisory Committee (ECAC).
Her expertise and knowledge in the field supports teaching and learning. Yanelis assures that professional development is targeted, systematic, and comprehensive for all early childhood staff members through her collaboration with other administrators and instructional coaches as well as other educational resources outside of the district.
She prides herself in her ability to assist in designing the program with appropriate supports for all preschool children to ensure the inclusion of students with disabilities in their least restrictive environment. Yanelis is a committee member for Hornblower Early Childhood Center, participating in the NJIETA project aiming to support inclusive education practices in schools.
Before becoming an administrator, Mrs. Cabaleiro taught in an integrated PreK setting for four years and in an ABA Preschool Disabled setting for seven years. She also served as a District Instructional Coach and Preschool Master Teacher for two years.
Mrs. Cabaleiro earned a B.S.E. in Integrated Early Childhood, Elementary, & Special Education from Seton Hall University in 2009. She went on to earn a Masters degree in Education with a concentration in Family & Community Involvement and completed a School Supervisor Certification Program. In addition, she has a B.A. in Social & Behavioral Sciences and a minor in Psychology. Mrs. Cabaleiro was honored to be recognized as the Teacher of the Year for Belleville School #3, Essex County Teacher of the Year, and NJ State Teacher of the Year finalist in 2019-2020.
