Mr. Thomas M. D'Elia

Academic History/Classroom Experience: Mr. D’Elia is a graduate of Belleville High School where he participated in various academic and athletic activities. Mr. D’Elia received a Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Peter’s College where he was also academically recognized by acceptance into Psi Chi, The National Honor Society for Psychology. Mr. D’Elia later attended William Paterson University's Alternate Route Program to earn his teaching certifications in Psychology and Elementary Education (K-8).
 
While serving as a Middle School Math, Science, and Social Studies Teacher in West Orange, Mr. D’Elia attended Kean University to obtain his certification in Special Education, and later his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. While at Kean University, Mr. D’Elia was awarded acceptance into Alpha Epsilon Lambda, The National Honor Society for Graduate Students. Mr. D'Elia proudly taught students in the West Orange School District where he also coached Wrestling and Spring Track and Field.  Mr. D'Elia has also been inducted into the West Orange Athletic Hall of Fame alongside the 2007 West Orange Wrestling Team, where he was an assistant coach.
 
Administrative Roles: Mr. D’Elia has previously served the Belleville Public Schools as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Principal, High School Assistant Principal, Director of Safety, and Director of Athletics/Physical Education.
 
Professional Certifications: Mr. D’Elia holds the following standard educational certifications: Teacher of Psychology; Teacher of Students with Disabilities; Elementary School Teacher (K-8); Supervisor; Principal; and School Administrator.
 
Professional Presentations: Mr. D'Elia has delivered lecture presentations on various topics including Cloud-Based Curriculum; Digital Curriculum, Unlocking your All-In-One Classroom; What is Your Data Telling You; a hiring symposium at Montclair State University: What We Expect From Our Potential Coaches and Teachers; and as a guest lecturer at MSU Educational Leadership Program for aspiring administrators. 

Continuing Education: Mr. D'Elia is a past participant in the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Leadership Institute for Superintendents and District Leaders as well as a participant in Columbia University's Teacher College Continuing Education Program: Meeting the Needs of Early Career Teachers. Mr. D'Elia has been named a Leadership Associate at Montclair State University's Network for Educational Renewal (MSUNER) where he is also a Clinical Faculty Member and serves on the MSUNER's Operations Committee.  Additionally, Mr. D'Elia serves as an adjunct faculty member in MSU's Educational Leadership Program (MA). 
 
Mr. D'Elia is currently enrolled in Montclair State University's Ph.D. Doctoral Program in Teacher Education, Teacher Development where he has entered the doctoral candidacy stage in the program.  During his academic pursuit of a doctoral degree, Mr. D'Elia has been academically recognized by acceptance into Alpha Epsilon Lambda, Phi Delta Kappa, and Pi Lambda Theta Honor Societies.  Mr. D'Elia has also been inducted into The National Society of Leadership and Success at Montclair State University.

Personal Statement/Interests: Mr. D’Elia has a deep understanding and appreciation for academics and recognizes the critical role educators play in society. Mr. D’Elia sees his current position as Director of Operations/Chief Talent Officer at Belleville as an opportunity to give back to a community that has given him so many fond memories, positive experiences, and educational advantages. When he is not at work, Mr. D’Elia enjoys spending time with his lovely family.
