Ms. Correnti began her career in education in 1979 after graduation from Montclair State College with a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics Education. While teaching Home Economics for nineteen years at Kearny High School, she pursued additional certifications in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. While serving as a teacher, she attended Montclair State University to obtain her Master’s Degree in Student Personnel Services and later her Student Assistance Counselor Certification. In 1998, Ms. Correnti was appointed to the position of high school guidance counselor in Kearny. She continued her advanced studies to achieve her certifications for Supervisor and Director of Student Personnel Services. After nine years as a guidance counselor, she was appointed to the position as Supervisor of Extended Learning/SRA/Testing for Kearny Board of Education. During her tenure she served as a member of the Municipal Alliance, Middle States Committee, Cheerleading Advisor, as well as the National Honor Society Advisor. She was awarded recognition for her efforts by the local VFW for a 9/11 memorial monument that has been placed in the stadium of Kearny High School. She played an active role as a “team mom” in varsity sports of which her children participated.
In May 2009, Ms. Correnti achieved her career goal by being appointed as Belleville Public Schools Director of Student Personnel Services and Supervisor of School Nurses. She welcomes the challenge the position brings to her and the positive interactions with the students and parents of the Belleville community. She is a true advocate for students in the areas of academic achievement and personal growth.
