Dr. Giovanni Cusmano is a first generation American whose parents instilled in him and his siblings the importance of education. Upon graduating from high school, he attended the University of South Florida and in 1989 graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. A short time later in 1992, he attended and graduated from William Paterson University with his first Master’s Degree in Mass Communication. After working for a large retail company for several years he decided to follow in his brother’s footsteps by becoming an educator. Giovanni started teaching in 1999 and by 2004 he had completed his second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from New Jersey City University. While working for the Paterson Public Schools district in different capacities from math teacher to administrator, he went on to earn his Doctor of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2010.

Dr. Cusmano is the Director of Elementary Education for grades K-8. As an educational leader, he is committed to the children of Belleville’s education and learning.  To that end, he helps to ensure our schools integrate technology into the curriculum, especially with the EnVision Math 2.0, Wonders English Language Arts and the new Dimensions Science series. Most of our classrooms have interactive SMART Boards/TVs, and the teachers use them effectively. As a result, our students have an increased exposure to engaging lessons and 21st Century learning.

Dr. Cusmano is married with children and serves his community as a Board of Education Trustee in the town where he lives.
